Wyatt Flores - Welcome To The Plains

For my debut album, I wanted folks to know where I come from. Oklahoma has long been called a flyover state, but it’s far more than that to me. It’s filled with the kindest people, a dark history and a resilience that’s like nowhere else. I hope ‘Welcome to the Plains’ brings a little curiosity to not only the Red Dirt sound but the culture that defines it.
— Wyatt Flores

What a debut record this is. Wyatt Flores has been teasing us for the last 12 or so months, with a few EPs and songs scattered around. Translating that into a full-length album can be tricky but the 23-year-old has negotiated that with skill. His songwriting comes to the fore across the 14 songs on Welcome To The Plains and there’s a real grounding in that red dirt sound that he’s successfully nurtured.

I’m the editor-in-chief. The guy who looks after this whole damn place. And the music you see here is the kinda sounds that I’m into. They’re my questions, but not my answers.
