Our 2022: The Gibson Brothers

Please introduce yourself!

This is Eric Gibson of The Gibson Brothers.

What’s the best gig you’ve seen in 2022?

I haven’t been to any shows that we didn’t play in ‘22.

What’s the best gig you’ve played in 2022?

That is a tricky question. Many good ones. Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival, Grey Fox, ROMP, and Stone Mountain Arts Center come to mind…oh, and, of course, The Grand Ole Opry!

Where’s the best place you’ve visited?

I think the Yukon Territory is my favorite place I’ve ever been. In ‘22? Green Bay, WI. I love those Cheeseheads!

Best food you’ve eaten in 2022?

My wife’s cooking.

What’s the best thing that’s happened in music generally in 2022?

I like that Billy Strings is tearing it up in a big way and introducing a new generation of people to bluegrass music.

What’s the best thing that happened to you in music in 2022?

Del McCoury recorded one of my songs and made it the title cut of his Grammy-nominated album… and I produced a new album for my son, Kelley John Gibson — super proud!

What’s your favourite song of 2022?

‘Almost Proud’ — Del McCoury Band

What are your top three albums of 2022?

Almost Proud — Del McCoury

Hold On — Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen

Calling You From My Mountain — Peter Rowan

Max Mazonowicz

I’m the editor-in-chief. The guy who looks after this whole damn place. And the music you see here is the kinda sounds that I’m into. They’re my questions, but not my answers.
