Hi, I'm Terra Lightfoot!
What’s the best gig you’ve seen in 2023?
The Music of Big Star concert in Barcelona with The Sadies opening....The Music of Big Star band features Jody Stephens, Jon Auer, Pat Sansone, Mike Mills and Chris Stamey and they played ALL of my favorite Big Star songs. It was like bearing witness to the core of ‘70s rock n roll.
What’s the best gig you’ve played in 2023?
I think our most recent gig at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto or possibly the Rainbow in Ottawa, Ontario. Both crowds were wild! Meadows Fest in Fergus was also amazing, with Sloan, The Sheepdogs and Boy Golden. I love all of those bands dearly so it was fun to play music together and hang out that day.
Where’s the best place you’ve visited?
I was in Spain recently and I really loved being in Torremolinos. Right on the ocean, and a beach boardwalk that goes on for miles and miles. I also love the entirety of Japan and everything I've ever eaten in Italy.
Best food you’ve eaten in 2023?
Percebes! Which is a strange looking barnacle from northern Spain.
What’s the best thing that’s happened in music generally in 2023?
My new record Healing Power came out and we've been touring it! My favorite thing about being a musician is playing shows, so I have loved every moment of performing with my band...I also got my first billboard at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, which was a lovely thing to experience.
What’s your favorite song of 2023?
‘Mountain Road’ by Boy Golden. And if it isn't from 2023 I don't care because it's a great song!
What are your top three albums of 2023?
Charlotte Cornfield - Could Have Done Anything
Zoon - Bekka Ma'iingan
Brooks and Bowskill - Too Many Roads
I also love The Hanging Stars but their most recent record came out in 2022.
What are you most proud of in 2023?
I think that I finally managed some semblance of a work-life balance in the current climate of the music industry. I got married, I played a lot of rock n roll with my friends, and I managed to get some time in with my family, friends, and my husband. Those are all of the things that really matter to me!
