Hey Danielle, how the heck are you?

Hey! I’m doing great! We’ve finally got some nice weather here in Vancouver which automatically makes it such an awesome day.

So, where are you right now? And what are you up to today?

It’s been kinda crazy around here! I’m packing up my house to move tomorrow and afterwards I’m heading downtown to cast my Weather Man for my music video that we’re shooting this week.

Introduce yourself to our campers.

I’m a born and raised farm girl. I’ve been writing & singing for what feels like a lifetime. I have three dogs that are always keeping things interesting around here and I LOVE HGTV.

A farm girl? What’s it like working on a farm? Hard work, right?

For sure hard work, but at the same time sometimes not. A lot of the work I do on the farm is in the summer time. So, more driving tractor, making hay, working on my tan while listening to Katy Perry. My dad is still proposing I pay a tanning membership fee.

Tell us something about you that we won’t find in your bio.

I love photography and videography. Social media gets such a bad rep - but without it I probably never would have picked up a camera in the first place. For me it’s become another place that I can be creative through images & videos.

So, what can you tell me about your new single, ‘Weather Man’?

I wrote this one on my bedroom floor. I was inspired by the weatherman never being right. When we make hay on the farm it’s always so dependent on weather - they say, sun all week and by noon they’re calling for rain. I took that concept and then related it to a relationship at the time. I got my brother to help me finish writing it and it turned out alright.

What impact does it have you living in Canada, as opposed to somewhere like Nashville?

I think no matter where you live there is always inspiration. There is always a story to be told and one that people can relate to no matter where you are - which is what makes music so cool and so universal.

There’s a strong Canadian country music scene, what can you tell me about it?

It’s somewhat of a small circle which is nice. Everybody knows everybody, and I’ve made some great friends in it!

What’s the best and worst things about your hometown?

The best would have to be the views. The worst - it’s really not hard to run into someone you know when you look like trash.

What’s your biggest personal achievement over the last 12, weird, months?

Staying happily married during a lockdown [laughs]

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2021?

I’m not even sure what to expect! I think a music video for ‘Weather Man’ and maybe an EP would be something that happens this year. Which I cannot wait to share with everyone!

Who (or what) has inspired you?

Everyday I feel like there is something or someone new to be inspired by, whether it’s a classic country tune I hear on my record player or a story my Grandpa tells me. Unfortunately for my husband - relationships tend to be a huge influence. Even hearing stories from other people can get the melodies turning in my head.

If you could recommend one artist to hear this week, who would it be?

DUA LIPAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! (insert fire emoji)

What’s the question we should have asked you today but haven’t?

What’s your favorite colour?

Finally, how do you take your coffee?

REGULAR

Max Mazonowicz

I’m the editor-in-chief. The guy who looks after this whole damn place. And the music you see here is the kinda sounds that I’m into. They’re my questions, but not my answers.
