Hello, Tenille Arts

Hey Tenille, thanks for chatting. So, how would you introduce yourself to anyone who doesn’t already know you and your music?

I would say I am somebody who loves to let my music talk for me. I get a lot of my ideas from my own life and my fans lives. I hope people feel included and loved when they listen to my music.

What can you tell us about your 2023, what’s coming up for you this year?

This year is going to be super fun! I have a lot of tour dates that I’m excited about. I just got back from London and I’m going to be touring Australia and Canada this year then a ton of festival dates. I’m also working on some new music and it’s my favorite music yet.

You released albums in 2020 and 2021, what was the main reason for the quick turnaround?

I just love writing and I feel like two months after I release a project, the fans are asking for more. So I try to work as hard as I can to share my life and my songs with them!

You were part of CMT Next Women of Country in 2021, what was that like?

That was an incredible experience. It was so great to feel like I had this community of women that I could relate to.

What’s your favourite song by another artist?

My favorite country song of all time is ‘The House That Built Me’ by Miranda Lambert. It’s exactly my story and reminds me of home. That’s the beautiful thing about songwriting.

You were born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, it always amazes me the list of artists from Saskatchewan. What’s the best thing about Weyburn?

Weyburn was such an awesome place to grow up. The community has been so supportive of me since I was eight years old and sold out the summer show that I did there. They continue to show up and I’m so grateful.

What are the best and worst things about being an artist?

It’s definitely not as glamorous as people think! It’s a lot of travel, sleeping in weird places whenever you can, and missing people you love, BUT, I absolutely love what I do so I can’t complain. Seeing the fans singing my music back to me and getting to hug them is the best thing about being an artist.

I see you’ve got about 150,000 followers on Instagram, does it ever blow your mind how many people listen to your music, come to your shows, etc?

It’s crazy to me! It’s sometimes scary knowing that many people see my posts but my fans are the sweetest people in the world and they know that my page isn’t a place that hate is tolerated. So it’s a very safe space for me to share my life and interact with them!

You mentioned you were in the UK in February for a show at Omeara, what were you looking forward to most about visiting London?

I LOVE visiting London. The fans are incredible and already knew all the words to an unreleased song. That blew my mind. They are amazing listeners and so supportive.

What’s the best piece of merchandise you have available?

I love a simple t-shirt. My main thing is to make sure it’s something comfortable and good quality. One of my other favorites in the Girl to Girl vinyl. I’ve always wanted vinyl and this one is beautiful!

We’re called Campfire Tales, tell us your best story.

My best story is the first time I heard my music on the radio for the first time. I remember driving to Nashville when I was 21 in my little car with my mom and listening to every radio station on the way. I dreamed of hearing myself on the radio in Nashville so that was one of my biggest goals early on. When I released ‘Somebody Like That’ the response was so great. I was driving to the recycling place in that same little car and had my trunk open unloading things and heard my song and immediately ran back into the car and filmed myself hearing it for the first time. I didn’t expect to cry but I was so excited and overwhelmed with that dream coming true! It was amazing and I cried and called my parents to celebrate.

Finally, you can ask me any question you like, what is it?

Who is your favorite new artist and why!?

Max Mazonowicz

I’m the editor-in-chief. The guy who looks after this whole damn place. And the music you see here is the kinda sounds that I’m into. They’re my questions, but not my answers.
