Hello Sacha!

Hey Sacha, how the heck are you?

Heck! I’m as good as can be.

So, where are you right now? And what are you up to today?

Right now I am residing in Oshawa Ontario, and I am writing new tunes!

Introduce yourself to our lovely campers.

I am a singer-songwriter and country artist. I’m a happy go lucky gal with a little edge. I’m a day dreamer and a night owl. I love people, music, outdoors, movies, and more! I won a competition called the Next Country Music Star in 2016, and the rest has been small town history ever since.

Tell us something about you that we won’t find in your bio.

I have an identical twin sister who’s name happens to rhyme with mine. Tasha is her name.

Tell me about your recent EP The Best Thing in two sentences.

The Best Thing takes listeners on a journey from falling in love, taking risks, sticking to your guns, and having lots of fun. This EP has a left field, high energy, synergistic sonic appeal, which introduces a fresh sound on the country scene and invites an audience to a toast, raising their voices high and their standards even higher.

You just released the video for ‘Standards,’ what’s that song about?

This song is about sticking to your guns when it comes to your personal standards in a relationship and most importantly, finding someone who respects and values those standards. It’s going to take more than fancy cars and credit cards when it comes to the right person stepping to the plate.

How was making the video? Fun or hard work?

The making of this video was a blast! My little four-pound yorkie Trooper, has a cameo in the music video and he is the deciding factor of whether or not these guys are going to make the cut. The team I had the pleasure to work with were great and a load of fun! The video was directed by Travis Didluck and produced by Ben Knechtel. The candi “dates” were a hoot also. I couldn’t get through the speed dating scene without laughing due to the hilarious dialogue that was taking place to make it appear that we were having a conversation. “So.. do you like chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream? What about sprinkles on your ice cream?” You’ll have to watch the video to understand where a conversation like that would take place.

You’ve got an acoustic track on the EP, what made you want to put something a little more stripped back on there?

I find that there are a lot of unique things happening sonically throughout the EP, and it’s always refreshing to bring things back a bit and communicate with the listener in a more intimate way. I find even in my live sets, I like to start and end with a bang, but somewhere in between it’s important to take a moment and strip things back and invite to engage the audience on a different level.

You’re part of the 2021 class of CMT Next Women Of Country, what has that meant to you?

Being a part of the Next Women Of Country means a great deal to me. I have always wanted to be a part of it, I just didn’t know how. I’m in Canada and I’ve watched and admired the female artists that have become a part of the alumni in Nashville. Through a series of fortunate events, I connected with Leslie Fram, Senior Vice President of music strategy at CMT, and I now find myself fulfilling a dream to be one of the Next Women of Country!

What support do you get from the program?

The amount of support I have received from the program has honestly blown my mind! I’ve found myself a team within CMT that have never hesitated to seek and assist in helping me achieve my dream and goals. From music video premieres, to playlist adds, publicity, introductions and more, I feel very blessed to be in such good company.

What difference do you think it makes that you’re in Ontario rather than Nashville?

The heart of songwriting is in Nashville. I’ve got a lot going for me even through virtual introduction, but I feel like I’ve really got to have my foot on soil to truly be immersed in all that the industry has to offer when it comes to my goals as an artist , mentality and the music business.

What was the most exciting thing that you got up to over the last 12 months?

One of the most exciting things over the past 12 months was winning the IHeart Radio Future Star and having my song ‘Standards’ added to rotation on radio!

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2021?

You can expect new music! That’s for sure.

Who (or what) has inspired you?

I’ve been around musicians since childhood. My parents were in a band which left an imprint on my soul. I’ve had every musical influence you can think of growing up, but when Taylor Swift hit the scene she set off something in me that had me on a guitar three hours a day, writing songs, playing gigs, and headed on trips to Nashville.

If you could recommend one artist to hear this week, who would it be?

It’s always hard just to choose one. Ugh..no fair! But if there is one artist I can recommend you take a listen to this week then her name is Tiera. Check her out! Super soulful fresh and unique pretty voice in Country music.

What’s the question we should have asked you today but haven’t?

Who would I like to collaborate with? Hint, I made mention of her a couple of paragraphs above!

Finally, how do you take your coffee?

Funny enough…. I haven’t had coffee or any caffeinated beverage in just a little bit over two years now. But.. when I did have a coffee I would take it in the form of a double double!
