Hello Treetop Flyers! How the heck are you?

Hey, It’s just myself (Reid) here today. I’m very well thank you. Hoping you are too.

I am very well, thanks for checking. I normally do a mini intro piece in interviews, but if you were introducing yourself in a paragraph what would you say?

One of the hardest questions to answer this [laughs] We are a six piece band from London who play a mix of 70’s inspired soul, rock ’n’ roll, and alt.Country. We have had three albums out and we have a new one landed later this year which is very exciting.

Tell me, where are you right now? And what are you up to today?

Right now I’m at work using the downtime to answer these questions.... and once I'm done with work I think a little visit to a beer garden is calling.

It’s been three years since your last album, where have you been, what have you been doing?

It always feels longer when you read that in writing! Sorry we’ve been away. We've been getting better at recording and we have been working on and finished a new album which is out later this year. Also the tip tap of little babies from some band members.

The last year has been a bust for everyone, but what skills have you picked up

Making peace with a new pace of living which ultimately benefits everyone. We all need to be more in tune with our bodies and minds, I’m thankful for my yoga and mediation practices.

How did you guys get on with streaming shows? Did you do many? Were they fun or weird?

To be honest I wasnt a fan of streaming shows, well, doing them live anyway, I found them weird to watch too. We did some pre-records for a few online festivals which were great. It was great that you could play a festival in America from London!

You’re playing Black Deer Festival in a couple of weeks, how excited are you at playing a festival again? [Deep breath everyone, Black Deer was cancelled in light of the delay in the UK government lifting COVID restrictions]

We love this festival!! It has a real place in our souls. Gill, Debs and Bev who put it on are superstars! Really looking forward to playing this year.

What’s the best thing about getting back to playing gigs?

The rush!! Also we will be testing out some new songs, which is always nerve-wracking, but also freshens up the set!

And if there was one thing you haven’t missed, what is it?

Lifting all the equipment about ha!

What’s the thing you’re most looking forward to about playing a festival? Other than playing in front of people! Do you get to experience much of the festival itself?

Everyone is in a different headspace at a festival! You can feel the freedom in the air. Also, we get to see a lot of new bands ourselves, and catch up with friends. And also make some new fans ourselves!

I saw you guys at Hop Farm Festival about ten years ago, what’s the difference in playing festivals to your own shows?

You kinda have to up your game to win people over and draw them into your tent or to your stage.

What can we expect from you for the rest of 2021?

We have our fourth studio album out at the back end of the year! Very excited about this one.

If you could recommend one artist to hear this week, who would it be?

The Fernweh! Our bass players other band! They have a new single out called ‘The Pike’ it’s a banger.

What’s the question we should have asked you today but haven’t?

What you listening to today....

Finally, how do you take your coffee?

As Steve Marriott sang with Humble Pie.........Black Coffee
